With the imminent publication of my book on August 4, I have created a new official site, for my books as well as any future articles or blog posts. This site will not shut down, but will remain in a state of suspended animation.  Hope to see you all at the new site and thank you for your readership over the years!

Regards,

Hi folks… Long time no see! I’ve been a bit busy with the Alice in Chains book, as well as a few other things in the short and long term, so blogging has been infrequent, to put it mildly. Work on the book is coming along nicely – I can finally see the light at the end of the tunnel! Hopefully it’s not an oncoming train… Publication is tentatively scheduled for late 2014/early 2015, but I will make an announcement once the book is in the can and a date is set in stone.

A lot’s been happening in the world in recent times, so I will start picking up the pace a bit on this end, especially as work on the book winds down.

Hope all is well!

In addition to the visual makeover, the blog’s name and address has changed. The name is based on the following quote by economist Thomas Schelling, taken from his seminal work “Arms and Influence”:

“Against defenseless people there is not much that nuclear weapons can do that cannot be done with an ice pick.”

TPM alum Greg Sargent has a new gig, blogging The Plum Line as part of the Washington Post’s new WhoRunsGov project, which is basically Wikipedia for Beltway political junkies. Add it to your blogroll.

Peter Orszag, Barack Obama’s nominee to be director of the Office of Management and Budget, has given up his duties blogging for his old job as director of the Congressional Budget Office. The CBO blog will continue under acting director Robert Sunshine.

Here’s hoping that Orszag continues his blogging at the White House.
